“I look forward to coming to the trips organised by the Centre. I have made a friend who I now go all over with. What a difference that makes to my life.”
Sunderland Carers’ Centre arranges social activities and events throughout the year to give carers a break from their caring responsibilities and give them the opportunity to enjoy some leisure time with other carers. Some activities may be organised for a specific carers’ group, others are open to all carers.
Social activities for all carers are advertised through the Carers’ Centre Newsletter and website. Because they are very popular carers need to book places in advance.
Summer activities include day trips to places of interest. Recently there have been trips to York and Whitby.
Transport is organised from the Carers’ Centre and carers may be required to make a small contribution towards the cost of the coach. Depending on the type of excursion, there may also be a small charge, for example, to go into a museum.
In the winter there is usually a fun event or party for carers with food and entertainment.
